Recordings and collections

Audio recordings, samples, performances, names and notes are stored inside the app on your device. Sound detection, trimming and preparation run locally. We do not receive your audio and do not operate an audio storage server. No account is required. Your system backups may include app data according to your device settings.

Microphone

Sound Hunt requests microphone access when you choose to capture audio. Recording ends when you stop, leave the capture screen, switch away from the app or reach the 60-second capture limit. You can decline access and import audio instead. Recording a pad performance does not use the microphone.

Optional places and maps

You can attach your current approximate or precise location to a hunt, or just type a place name. Coordinates are stored locally and can be removed in Hunt details. Apple provides maps and place-name lookups, which involve requests for the area displayed or looked up. Audio is not sent to Apple’s map service. Saved coordinates are excluded from kit exports and analytics.

Optional app analytics

App usage analytics is on by default and can be switched off during onboarding or in Settings. An existing opt-out remains off after updates. When enabled, Google Analytics for Firebase receives feature interactions, session information, basic device/app information, an app-instance identifier and purchase events. Examples include starting a hunt, keeping variations, playing the first pad, saving a performance and exporting a kit. Google may derive coarse location from network requests.

We do not send recordings, sample or collection names, notes, filenames, saved coordinates, or a personal user ID. Advertising features and IDFA/IDFV collection are disabled. We do not use this information for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Turn Share usage analytics off in Settings to stop collection and reset the local analytics identifier. Previously received aggregate reports may remain. Google’s handling is described in its Privacy Policy and Firebase Analytics data collection documentation.

SDK diagnostics

Firebase also receives limited SDK, device, operating system and app metadata to understand platform and version adoption. Its SDK privacy manifest declares this diagnostic information as not linked to a user or device identifier. It does not include your recordings or collection content.

Website

This website is served by Firebase Hosting. Hosting necessarily processes request information, including IP address and browser information, to deliver and secure the site. The playable demo downloads bundled public audio; it does not access your microphone. Optional website analytics remains off unless you enable it using the Analytics control in the footer. When enabled, it measures page visits and demo interactions using a browser identifier. You can switch it off with the same control.

Purchases

Apple processes payments and provides verified purchase status. We do not receive payment card details. When analytics is enabled, purchase-related events may be measured. Sound Hunt offers a one-time, non-consumable lifetime unlock, not a subscription.

Sharing and deletion

Export opens the system share sheet. Files go to the destination you choose. Exported kits contain selected samples and credits, not full original recordings or precise coordinates. Delete a collection to remove its associated recordings and performances from the app. Deleting the app removes its local library. Save exports before deleting anything you want to keep.

If you email us, we receive your address and the information you choose to include so we can reply. Avoid sending private audio unless it is necessary for your question. You may request access, correction or deletion of information we hold. We may need enough information to identify the relevant record; without an account we cannot automatically associate an analytics installation with your email.
